I'm OUT

I am officially out of the SL half marathon next Saturday. When I add mileage my bursitis acts up. Doc says NO RACE!! The shots did not take care of it. There will not be an April race for me. On the upside, I have filled out my St George marathon registration. (Cross your fingers that Michell and I will get in!!!) Hopefully my bursitis will be taken care of by the time I start training. If any of you have any ideas/suggestions for how to heal bursitis...

So Sorry to hear that you can't run and are feeling bad. I couldn't help thinking about you this morning as I got in the car, the radio station was having a battle of the bad 80's bands and who was on..... Bon Jovi and all I could see was you singing your little heart out. I sure miss you, it is good to be able to keep up with your family.

Oh man! Sorry to hear about that. I will definitely be crossing fingers for you and Michelle. I think you are crazy to run 26 miles, but it's just one more AMAZING thing you do!

That's a darn shame. However, I am relieved to read that "I'm Out" does not refer a change in lifestyle or preference.

You need to get the swelling down. one of the most effective ways I've found is to get a bucket big enough to put your foot in and fill it with water and ice. Soak for 5-10 minutes as many times a day as you can. Be really careful walking afterwards as your achilles will be stiff. Don't stretch or do anything that elicits pain (calf raises, etc) until you have been pain free for a few days. At that point slowly start stretching and strengthening excercises.
I found this on a website called letsrun.com. Maybe it can help!
