So Fun

Sitting in sunny St. George - studying. Have a midterm on Monday. Here until Sunday. Someday life will be less busy, someday. Until then, I will take my books with me everywhere I go. EVERYWHERE. No, not complaining. Just longing for a lazier time in my life.

Favorites

Two of my favorite people, Uncle Randy and the Boy.
Just because.
Uncle Randy is a runner. He loves to race. Races are the best with him. He's very fast. Way faster than me.
But he always waits for me at the finish line.
And is very congratulatory on my time - whether it really sucks or just kind of sucks.
He is always very positive and a ton of fun.
I miss running with him.
I will be racing again soon, I hope.

Runners Rule!

And I really like this picture.
My Boy is awesome - all boy.
He loves bones, like me.
He always wants to hang out with me, even if I'm just studying or being a dork.

Boys Rule!
(Disclaimer - I totally dig my girls, too)

Running Update

Doc says I should be able to run in two more weeks. Yeah!
I even bought new running pants to celebrate (my fav - Nike dry wick full length - pricey, but totally worth every penny!)
Okay, I will admit.
I am a little nervous to start again.
I am a complete and total wimp when it comes to pain.
And the last dozen times I ran I was in extreme pain.
Supposedly surgery fixed all that, right?
Buck up and be a big girl, right?
(It was easier to whine about not doing it)

Friends

Grateful my kids have good friends. We spent Friday night eating chicken nuggets, giving pedicures, making hot fudge sundaes and being crazy.
I'm so grateful for ALL the good friends my kids have.
(These are just two of them)

Brownies

Ashlie is working on her baking skills. On Saturday she made her dad's favorite brownies - all by herself!
They are the only brownies he will eat (brownie snob)
I have had this recipe since I was a kid - one of the first things I learned to bake myself. I wish I could remember where the recipe came from so I could give the credit where it is due! I think my mom got it from someone and we adapted it to our family's taste (which means more sugar)
Here is the recipe:
1 C butter
2 C sugar
1/3 C cocoa
mix together, then add:
4 eggs, one at a time, mixing well between each one
1 1/2 C flour
dash of salt
1 t vanilla
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. They are delicious!

A New Book

Taking Human Anatomy this semester. I study.
ALOT.
Always studying, even in the car. I'm learning to LOVE bones and muscles.

Went to the book fair last night. Told the boy he could pick a book.
This is the book he picked.

Not kidding.

When I asked him why, he told me he wanted his own BONE book because he likes bones like me. Bones are cool.

Now we can study bones together.

Sure enough - crawled in my bed with me last night (as I was studying my own, slightly more advanced bone book), bone book in tow.

We studied bones.

It was great fun.

Could it be - I'm having a positive influence on my child????

Love Day

Love day was great. I received a 6-foot valentine from the boy. Not joking - 6 feet long! What a kid! (too bad I forgot to get a photo of it before the dog ran across it and ripped it up!) Having our special dinner on the "good china" and the "good" candles (as opposed to bad candles???) as Ashlie called it. She decorated the table "fancy" for all of us.
Ashlie chose our menu - then she helped make it! She chose spicy buffalo chicken pizza, breadsticks and salad. For dessert - puff pastry filled with bavarian cream.

Ashlie and her masterpiece - spicy buffalo chicken pizza. Everything was delicious!

Spring

Out for a walk today and noticed buds on a tree. Could it be? Is Spring on it's way? Dare I hope?

School is Cool

I spent the past week and the entire weekend (minus Sunday) studying my guts out for my Anatomy test tomorrow. My brain is mush. My eyes are crossed. I feel my skull expanding. School is cool, right? Is there ever a point you're just too old? I guess I'll find out tomorrow.

My Boy

My boy will go to town with scissors, paper and a stapler.

I needed some quiet study time so I gave him the afore-mentioned supplies.

This is what he came up with:

The boy was VERY PLEASED with himself. And for good reason!
I counted 107. 107!!
Yes, the rest of the house looks this way, too.

For those of you that know me know I am a little OCD when it comes to the cleaning and organization of my house. The decorations were driving me nuts! I was getting ready to "re-arrange" them when I came across this
dear friend's blog.

I know the song she is speaking of. I know it well. I couldn't stop thinking about it. All night.

I started to blubber. After I was done blubbering, I started to bawl. I couldn't stop all night. I'm still a little teary-eyed.

The hearts are still there and will be until Valentine's day is over.

Very grateful for the wake-up call.

So Darn Cute!

I LOVE all things girly! My dear friend at Piggy's n Petals makes and sells these fabulous hats and flowers. While I can't pick out my girls' outfits anymore (sigh) this girl will still let me buy her cute flowers (and a hat or two) for her hair. Oh, how I love all things girly! Isn't she so darn cute!

Do You Like to Shop?

Do you like to shop? Do you hate paying full price? Do you love a fun find? If so, check out my friend Lisa's new store. She has some really great stuff!
