Funny Boy

Made cookies yesterday for the boy to take on his overnight camping trip with his dad. I had him come and try one of the cookies. This is what he said to me:

Boy - Mom, is that oatmeal I taste in this cookie?

Mom - Yes, do you like it?

Boy - I like the way it tastes with the chocolate. It gives it a delicious flavor!

Mom - A what? (surprised a 7-year-old came up with delicious flavor)

Boy - You heard me - a delicious flavor, oatmeal mixed with chocolate. I didn't know you could do things like that!

There you have it - oatmeal mixed with chocolate = delicious. Amazing.

Test

Should be studying - blogging instead. Hate studying, love blogging. Had to get caught up on everyone!

Chem test is Wednesday. Any good energy you can spare and send my way will be much appreciated. Worst/hardest class so far on this insane little detour I am taking in my life. Who goes back to school at 34 with 3 kids? Apparently I did without thinking too much about it. Ever wish you could go back in time ...

Wow - I would make a LOT of different choices! But I guess the choices I did make is what makes me who I am.

Stop complaining, start studying. One week and counting . . .

A Long Time Coming

Finally ran two whole miles - without stopping. First time in almost 10 months. Amaziyng how long it takes to build up endurance and how quickly it can be lost. Someday I WILL tackle a marathon!

Until then, I will keep on running, building, enduring, one mile at a time.

Why is anything worth doing hard? (WORKout, homeWORK) I guess if it were easy I wouldn't really get anything out of it--

Taylor learned to wakeboard (now her dad has to buy her a cute girlie board)
Cousins played and had a great time
Cameron learned to kneeboard and wakeboarded with his dad
Mom didn't open her chemistry book even once

July

Where did July go?

Just got back from Lake Powell - it was hot and wonderful! Water temps were perfect and the weather was divine. Can't post photos because I broke my card reader on my new computer!

On the countdown to the end of school - only 15 days until chem finals. Hooray - can't wait for it to be over!!

School Stuff

Yes, the kids are still in school. I'm not complaining - wait, yes I am! Don't worry, I will be complaining in a week that they are home!

Here's what they've been doing . . .

Ashlie became a 'Great Brain' on Russia - thanks to her fabulous grandma that spent two whole days with her - educating her on all things Russia! (Grandma's rock - mom was studying chemistry)

Cameron was the super talented, completely orange lizard in his school play. When it comes to lizards, this boy can act!

Cameron and best bud Keller. What would we do without our favorite Keller? Cameron's mom would go crazy, that's what!

Ashlie and Madeline in the school play. Ashlie was "some dude nobody ever heard of" in her class rendition of "Constitution Survivor"

Then there's Tay - the only kid NOT in school. She became a super styling non-makeup wearing pioneer for a few days. She came home with a great appreciation of beds, showers and flushing toilets!

Getting There

Started working with a trainer. Gained 30 pounds post-surgery. Feeling desperate to get it off. I am starting to run again this week. I hurts, but kind of in a good way. Wow, how I have missed my 5 AM workouts. I love watching the sun rise while I am out running. Unfortunately, I can only run short distances - for now. But I'm getting there and that's all that matters, right?

Okay, I have a few questions for you, my fellow bloggers.

Here they are:

Where is the best place to camp at Lake Powell? Boat in spots??
(going to sneak down there for a few days in July and leave the chemistry books home)

Where do you recommend visiting on a vacation to Florida?
In all my travels, I have never been there!!
(City, preferably not Orlando, something near beautiful beaches, kid friendly)

Does anyone know a chemistry tutor?

Good

Hit every light red today. Can't get my computer to behave. Yelled at my son to stop coughing (asthma and allergies and none of his meds are working.) Every time I went to the bathroom there was no toilet paper. Phone rang off the hook. - with stupid stuff - mostly problems I am suposed to somehow magically know how to fix. Stupid people saying stupid things that just piss me off. Kids make messes faster than I can clean up - and they are at school.

Not loving life today. I can't keep up with school, work, house, laundry, volunteering at the dental office - basically all the demands of being a wife and mother. I had to leave church yesterday because I was so angry.

Realized one year ago today I was running 30+ miles a week. Now I can barely run one without my insides feeling as if they are falling out.

Yelled at my son (who is 7 and the center of my world) to grow up - and I TOTALLY did not mean that in any way, shape or form. Just spewed out of my mouth before I could stop myself.

Please, someone, anyone tell me I am not alone in this mental and physical breakdown. Life will get better, right? Right? ANYONE???

If it sounds like I'm whining, I am.
