Farewell Summer

We loaded up the car, hot dog and all, and headed to the cabin for a last summer visit. Time to close up the cabin and bring home the wheelers
The cabin is our very favorite summer spot - we ride wheelers (as The Boy calls them), eat, watch movies, eat, sit around the fire, eat...
Uh, is it obvious Cameron loves the cabin?

Chris and his dad - always working on something

Ash and Mad - Mad's first time driving!

Grandma teaching Tay to cook breakfast. Grandma's breakfasts are the best - bacon, sausage, scones, eggs, hashbrowns, orange juice, chocolate milk, the works!

Farewell, fun summer, farewell.
I can't wait to see you next year!

Pumpkins

Feeling like a horrible mother because it is 10 days until Halloween and we bought our pumpkins last night. LAST NIGHT!!!! (The teenager was too cool to get pumpkins with her family)
I still haven't made the Halloween cookies - our yearly tradition. The house is barely decorated - I have nothing in the yard. And the boy still does not have a costume. Wow - !
School is cool, right??????

Soccer Star

Yesterday was the last day of soccer (yeah!)
This is our very own soccer superstar!
The Boy loved playing soccer - (or he loved the treats after??)

His super cool trophy (the only reason he plays, I think)

It was a good season - but the mom is glad it is over!

Try This!

I tried this 1 hour cinnamon roll recipe today. I got it from my friend Char. They were very simple - the kids were able to help and they tasted delicious. Thanks for sharing, Char!

GO UTES!!

This post is dedicated to my BYU side of the family! A headless Ute

Game day - you MUST wear Ute attire in this house on game day!

Go, Utes! As you can tell, we are a UTE family!
We enjoyed the Utah vs CSU game tonight with a pizza party (and chocolate for mom).
The Utes KICKING BUTT was just an added bonus.
Fun was had by all.
Go Utes!
Counting down to the Utah/BYU game in November. . .

St. George Marathon 2009!!!

How do you run a marathon?
One step at a time!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS
to all 2009 St. George Marathon participants!

After six months of eating, sleeping, dreaming, OBSESSING about the marathon, I had to drop out due to an injury requiring surgery. I only cried a few times on Friday when I picked up my race packet, then again on Saturday as Darin (Michelle's husband) and I cheered (for 2 1/2 hours straight!!!!!) for all the awesome, amazing runners in this year's marathon.

My INCREDIBLE husband ran for me. (He finished in 3:46!!!!!! AMAZING!!) Michelle, (my FABULOUS training partner), also ran today and FINISHED STRONG. They both did a FANTASTIC job and I am so proud of both of them!
Here are some of the highlights from the race...

Michelle and I at the starting line Q&A sign Friday afternoon - it says
"Physical pain is temporary - the memories are forever!"

The Official start line

Chris and Michelle - checking out the start of the race course (the tunnel of flags)

Chris and Michelle at the OFFICIAL start line (spectators are not allowed at the official start line - runners only! We drove up Friday night to check it out and get some photos)

Saturday morning before the race...

Pre-race meal (at 4:30 a.m.!!) - peanut butter on wheat toast - delicious AND nutritous!
Pre-race Chris - getting the jitters out (I don't think Chris or Michelle slept much the night before - they were both a little nervous!)

Michelle at mile 23...
(her dear husband, Darin, ran the last three miles with her - so sweet and supportive!)

And at the finish line - you go, girl!!! Next year, I'll be by your side!

Chris at mile 23 - still going strong

VERY Short video of Chris running into the city...

Relaxing in the hot tub...

Easing sore muscles!

Congratulations to everyone. Great race!

I will have my surgery in December.
Now, more than ever, I am INSPIRED AND DETERMINED to heal quickly and be back in top form to complete the St. George 2010 marathon, stronger than ever.

I will be a PARTICIPANT instead of a CHEERLEADER! (Tho I really enjoyed cheering for all the amazing, awesome, awe-inspiring runners!)
For those of you that finished this year's marathon = I'm INSPIRED by you! For those of you that don't run yet - go witness a marathon. You will be INSPIRED!!
